Clindamycin has strong antibacterial activity on gram-positive microorganisms,e.g most penicillin-resistant and penicillinase-producing staphylococci and some anaerobic germs
Since there is no cross-allergenicity between It and penicillin, given to patients who are allergic to penicillin. Dosage:Mild infections: 600 mg per day in 3 or 4 equal doses. Severe infections: 1,200 mg to 1,800 mg per day in 3 or 4 equal Doses Children:Mild infections: 8 to 16 mg/kg/day in 3 or 4 equal doses. Severe infections: 16 to 20 mg,'kg/day in 3 or 4 equal doses. Parenterally (J.M. or I.V.) Adults: Mild infections : 600 to 1,200 mg per day in 2,3 or 4 equal doses. Severe infections: 1,200 to 2,700 mg per day in 3 or 4 equal doses. In extreme severe infections, including septicaemia and int-a-abdominal infections, the daily I.V. Dosage:can be increased to 4.8 g. 8 Especially when administered I.V., Clindamycin phosphate has to be diluted at a rate of 300 mg in 50 ml or more diluent.
